This habit can jeopardise your wellbeing and your folks. It can take away your joy of living. One day, you’ll wake up and realize that you have lost everything that you were home working to have. There are paths to avoid developing this habit. If you already have this habit, there are methods to break it.
Start by setting regular office hours, and regular work days.
Let your folks know what these hours are. When you make your working schedule, ensure that your jobs are booked during these hours no exceptions and no excuses. If you’re already a work a holic, this may be tough to adjust, but you can adjust if you’re employed at it.
If you’re not yet a work a holic, establish work days and hours, create a schedule, and stick to it from the beginning. Schedule a couple of days off every week. This is your weekend, and should coincide with your folks’s weekend.
Not checking your e-mail for 2 solid days will be difficult, but you can do it. Turn the PC off, close the door to your office, and return home for the weekend. Make plans with your folks. Get out of the house.
Take your other half for a stroll. Go on a picnic. Go see a movie. It doesn’t matter what you do, so long as it isn t work, and it includes your folks. If there are no family events planned for your weekend, find a past-time.
